In the 80’s my father was commissioned to put a turboprop engine in two A-35 Beechcraft Bonanzas. I got to ride in one and the second row faced the rear. He took the plane to his old stomping grounds Palwaukee airport. When we took off he started going vertical and because I was facing rear I saw everything and it was awesome. Never did aerobatics, that was the closest I ever came to it.

The v22 is a fantastic platform. Much faster and can fly much farther than any other helicopter. The lack of training is also due to the fact that pilots are literally having to learn how to fly a completely different platform. Not comparable to other helicopters in the slightest. The cobra pilots are gangsters because the military has been flying a version of those since the 60s. So the amount of experience in these planes and in the people training NEW pilots its not comparable. The reason behind the unreliability of these airplanes comes from multiple places. The 2 biggest being the platform is new and the pilots are inexperienced. But in 50 years hopefully the engineering and training will allow this platform to give our warfighters capabilities far beyond other helicopters

I used to work an Air Traffic sector over DFW Appch and Carswell. When Lockheed would test a new F-16 they would burner climb from the deck up to around 45-47,000’. Coordination was problematic with 5 low altitude sectors and up to 6 high altitude sectors. Normally we would look for one hit at the runway to tag the aircraft and plan on seeing the target reacquire agents they were inverted pulling out of the climb. Normally, the trajectory was vertical, the track jump when re-acquiring was less than a mile.
